Rebuilding After the Floods: The Phiri Family

Published

The 2024 rainy season was devastating for many families in Lusaka's low-lying areas. The Phiri family lost their home and most of their belongings when floodwaters rose overnight.

They were living in a makeshift shelter made of plastic sheeting when Zed found them. With winter approaching, the situation was urgent.

The Pamulomo Zed Show community came together to fund temporary housing materials, blankets, and a month's worth of food supplies while a more permanent solution was arranged.

The Outcome

The Phiri family has been relocated to safer ground and now lives in a solid two-room structure. The children are back in school and the family is rebuilding their lives with dignity.
